Crusader Boys Down Adams Central, 47-33
(Grand Island, NE) - The GICC boys basketball team snagged its 14th win of the season on Saturday night, downing Adams Central, 47-33.
A tight first quarter saw GICC with a 9-8 advantage. The scoring would pick up between the two Class C1 squads as the Cruaders would outscore the Patriots, 15-10, giving GICC a 24-18 lead at halftime. Thomas Birch had 13 of his 17 points in the first half.
GICC would then outscore AC in the third quarter, 14-8, and then in the fourth quarter, 9-7, to seal up the victory, giving the Crusaders a six-game winning streak going into the Centennial Conference tournament.
Adams Central, with the loss slips to 10-5 on the season. The Central Conference Tournament will start on Monday, January 26th. Lexington will host Schuyler. The winner of that game will then go to Adams Central on Tuesday to play the Patriots at 6:30 pm in a quarter-final matchup.
GICC is now 14-2 on the season. The Centennial Conference Tournament will start on Monday, January 26th. Boys Town is at Bishop Neumann. The winner of that game will then travel to GICC on Tuesday for a quarter-final match-up vs the Crusaders at 6:00 pm.
If the Crusaders advance to the semi-finals on Friday, the game will be played at GICC starting at 6:00 pm on KRGI 1430/105.5 & krgi.com
