Creighton Men Roll Utah Tech, 92-69

OMAHA, Neb. – Four men finished in double figures as the Creighton Men's Basketball team closed out non-conference play with a 92-69 win over Utah Tech on Monday, December 22. 
 
The Bluejays third consecutive victory pushed their record to 8-5 on the season with their 95th wire-to-wire win in CHI Health Center Omaha history, while Utah Tech dropped to 7-7 overall. 
 
Austin Swartz had a game-high 19 points to lead the way for Creighton, while Josh Dix delivered 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and a career-high five steals. Isaac Traudt added in 13 points of his own, with Jasen Green contributing 10 points, five rebounds and a career-high tying four assists. Creighton assisted on 23 of its 34 made baskets as the Bluejays shot 54 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from behind the arc. 
 
Utah Tech got 18 points from Jusaun Holt and 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds from Ethan Poter in the loss. The Trailblazers shot 50 percent from the field, outscoring the Bluejays 44-42 in points in the paint.

Creighton opened up a 17-5 lead in the first five minutes before eight straight points by the Trailblazers cut the margin to four. Utah Tech got as close as two (26-24) before Creighton pulled away to take a 43-34 lead into the half.

Green scored on three lobs in under two minutes to push the CU lead to 64-49, and the Jays largest lead was the final margin, 92-69.
 
The Bluejays return to the hardwood on Tuesday, December 30 for an 8 p.m. contest against Butler at CHI Health Center Omaha.

NOTES: Creighton made a three-pointer for the 1,069th straight game ... Josh Dix made a three-pointer for the 25th straight game ... Creighton never trailed, the 95th time at CHI Health Center Omaha it's led wire-to-wire ... Creighton has finished non-conference play with a winning record for the 29th consecutive season ... With tonight's win, head coach Greg McDermott is now 200 games over .500 as a Division I coach (507-307) ... Josh Dix recorded a career-high five steals, while Jasen Green dished out a career-high tying four assists.
