Creighton Baseball Splits Double Header at Seton Hall

South Orange, N.J. -- A four-run sixth inning gave the Creighton Baseball team a 7-3 win over Seton Hall on Sunday, April 13.
The victory pushed Creighton to a 20-10 mark on the season and 3-2 in BIG EAST play, while Seton Hall fell to 13-22 overall and 1-4 in conference action.
Each of the first two runs of the game came off the bat of Tate Gillen as Creighton's leadoff hitter opened the contest with his second home run of the series. In the second inning Gillen lifted a sacrifice fly to left.
Seton Hall responded with single runs in the third and fourth frames as Jimmy Brennan drove an RBI double to left in the third, while Marcos Ali lined an RBI double down the left field line to knot the game at 2-2.
Teddy Deters reclaimed the lead for Creighton with an RBI single up the middle in the fifth, only to see Seton Hall pull even in the bottom half with another RBI knock from Brennan.
Creighton took the lead for good with a four run sixth, ignited by RBI singles from Nolan Sailors and Ben North. Deters followed with an RBI walk, while the final run of the frame crossed on a Pirate error.
Creighton closer Garrett Langrell earned the win with 2.1 frames of scoreless relief to move to 4-1 on the season, while Seton Hall reliever Stephen Curry took the loss (2-2) giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks in one inning.

Game 2
South Orange, N.J. -- A back-and-forth battle in the rubber game saw Creighton Baseball seize a lead in the seventh inning, but Seton Hall answered with two runs to topple the Bluejays 7-6 on Sunday, April 13.
The loss dropped Creighton to 20-11 overall and 3-3 in BIG EAST action, while Seton Hall moved to 14-22 overall and 2-4 in conference action.
Seton Hall bounced out to an early 4-0 lead behind a solo home run from Kevin Milewski in the second as well as a two-run single from him in the third. Nick Ferri added a sacrifice fly in the third to make it 4-0.
Creighton responded with three runs in the fifth, pushing across the first run on a sac fly by Nolan Sailors followed by a two-run home run to center.
The game remained 4-3 until Aiden Robbins connected on a solo home run for the Pirates in the bottom of the sixth.
Bluejay Tate Gillen answered with a solo home run to open the top of the seventh. Later in the frame Sailors laced a single up the middle and North connected for his second round tripper to put Creighton up 6-5.
Facing a deadline due to Creighton's pending flight, the bottom of the seventh was the final opportunity, Seton Hall wasted no time with a double and a single to knot the game at 6-6 against Creighton reliever Shane Curtin, then took advantage of a Bluejay error with two down in the frame to take the game and the series.
Curtin took the loss (1-2), allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning. Seton Hall's Daniel Frontera collected the win (2-2) allowing one run on two hits in one-third of an inning.
Gillen closed the game 3-for-3 with a double and a home run, while North was 2-for-4 with four RBI in the loss.
The Bluejays return to action on Tuesday, April 15 as Creighton hosts Nebraska at 6:00 p.m. in a game televised on FS1.
