Coleman announces retirement-Jan. 5

KEARNEY - After more than three years of service in Kearney, and more than 34 years in health care, CHI Health Good Samaritan President Curt Coleman has announced his upcoming retirement effective Jan. 5, 2026.

A native of Iowa, Coleman took the helm of Good Samaritan in Aug. 2022 after serving as president of Critical Access Hospitals for Genesis Health System in Davenport, Iowa.

During Coleman’s tenure at Good Samaritan, the facility received several accolades, including America’s Top 250 Hospitals, 5-Star honors from CMS, a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade “A” Rating and ANCC Pathway to Distinction. Employee engagement continued a steady upward trend with Coleman at the helm, while he maintained a critical eye on capital improvements and medical staff relationships.

As an advocate for accessible health care, Coleman, representing the Nebraska Hospital Association, also played a pivotal role in the passage of LB1087 in the Nebraska Legislature. He was instrumental in helping lawmakers and the governor recognize the critical importance of Medicaid reimbursement for the future of health care in the state.

In retirement, Coleman plans to spend more time with his family and travel.

CHI Health and Good Samaritan will use the next six months to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
