CDHD Offers Guidance To Those Attending Nebraska State Fair
Opening ceremonies for the state fair kickoff tomorrow
With thousands expected to attend, the Central District Health Department is offering guidance to stay safe as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be an issue in our region, state and nation.
-If you are not fully vaccinated and age 2 or older, you should wear a mask in indoor public places. Vaccines are available at the CDHD from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Mondays – Fridays, 8:30 am – 8 pm on Thursdays and at local pharmacies and medical offices.
-If you are outside, you do not need to wear a mask unless you are in areas with high numbers of COVID-19 cases or for activities where you are in close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated.
-If you are immunocompromised, you should wear a mask, even if you are fully vaccinated.
-If you are fully vaccinated, due to the Delta variant the CDHD recommends wearing masks indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission. Grand Island currently has a case rate of 223 per 100,000 people, which meets the criteria of “substantial or high transmission”.
The CDHD will be on hand at the First Aid Station in the Welcome Center to give COVID-19 vaccines from Noon – 7 pm each day of the fair. The vaccines are provided at no cost and no appointment is necessary. The Nebraska State Fair will have free masks available at the sanitizer stations located at the public entrances to indoor facilities.
