Cats fall in season opener.

The St. Paul/Palmer Cats kicked off their 2024-25 season at Grover Cleveland Alexander Field against the York Dukes Friday afternoon. The Cats got off to quick start as Zandyn Weller led off the Bottom of the 1st inning with a Home Run to Left Field for the early 1-0 lead.

It would be short lived as York tied things up in the Top of the 2nd and never looked back behind a solid pitching performance from Thomas Bonde enroute to a 10-2 victory in 7 innings. York put 2 runs up in the 3rd, 2 in the 5th,3 in the 6th, and 2 in the 7th while St. Paul's 2nd run came in the Bottom of the 6th.

The Cats missing some key pieces in their lineup had to rotate in 5 pitchers with a double header looming over the weekend.

Alex Meineke(0-1) takes the loss despite a solid start on the hill throwing 2.2 innings throwing 4 Ks to start the year.

Zandyn Weller with his moonshot to left earns Runza MVP of the Game.

St. Paul/Palmer will be back in action Saturday at Lincoln Christian for a Triangular with Maxwell/NPSP at 12 followed by the host team at 3:30 P.M..

Our next broadcast will be Monday, April 7 in Boelus, NE for a match up vs Central City/Centura on 97-3 the Wolf.
