Campground Reservations Nearing Sellout

The environment at the Nebraska State Fair is unmatched for its 11-day stretch in Grand Island, but did you know you can also live at the fair?

For yet another year, the Nebraska State Fair is offering campground spots for those who wish to stay and experience the fair up close. Reservations are open now, and the form can be found at here. 

The campground is hosted by Brent and Valerie Schirmer, who are relatively new hosts for the campground, but they are certainly not new to the fair. The duo has been attending Nebraska State Fairs dating back to the 1970s, and it’s their passion for the annual event that can now be seen through how they manage the campground.

“It’s the family atmosphere,” Valerie Schirmer said. “It’s not only for our family, but we’re a family with the campers who come back every year. It’s our family of the Nebraska State Fair, the 1868 Foundation, and it’s just an atmosphere that we’ll love and cherish forever. 

Availability for full hook-up spots is low for weekend dates, but there are still available lots for full hook-ups on weekdays, and there are primitive spots available for both weekdays and weekends.

With the theme, All Roads Lead to Fun, the 2024 Nebraska State Fair is August 23-September 2 at Fonner Park in Grand Island. The fair has drawn more than 4 million visitors to its home in Grand Island since 2010.
