Camp Augustine Pre-Final Master Plan Open House Planned

Grand Island, Neb. — The City of Grand Island is once again inviting interested residents to attend a third public meeting regarding the Camp Augustine master plan, which will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 4-6 p.m. in the City Council Cambers at Grand Island City Hall.

The City acquired the 156-acre property in 2023 and is currently working with Big Muddy Workshop, a park planning consultant, to determine the future public use at the former boy scout camp.

This meeting will use an open house format with no formal presentation. Residents are welcome to stop by any time during the meeting to view updated drawings that show the proposed recreational uses at the former camp, ask questions and provide comments on the pre-final master plan.

The consultant will have staff able to converse in Spanish and English. Comment forms will be available for people wanting to provide written comments. Individuals requiring physical or sensory accommodations including interpreter service, hearing impaired devices, large print, or recorded materials are asked to contact the City of Grand Island, 100 East First Street, Grand Island, NE (308) 385-5444, ext. 140, at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting you wish to participate in so city staff can make the meetings accessible to any and all citizens of the community.
