Camp Augustine Open House Planned For Tuesday, June 11

City Of Grand Island

Grand Island, Neb. — The future of Camp Augustine in Grand Island is continuing to take shape, and the architectural firm Big Muddy Workshop is helping the city craft that future.

On Tuesday, June 11, the city will be holding a second open house for the public to view informational drawings, ask questions and provide suggestions of what they’d like to see happen with the land.

The open house will be held in the basement of Grand Island City Hall in the Community Meeting Room from 4-6 p.m. City Hall is located at 100 East 1st Street in downtown Grand Island.

The city purchased Camp Augustine and took ownership of the property in November of 2023. Currently, Grand Island has invested more than $2.1 million in Camp Augustine, and this is the second open house to seek public input in the city’s master planning process.

The open house will not only be informative for those who attend, but officials with Big Muddy Workshop also hope to collect community input on how the Camp Augustine property should be repurposed for public use.
