South Orange, N.J. -- In as gritty of a performance as it's had during the 2025-26 season, the Creighton Women's Basketball team defeated Seton Hall 72-66 on Sunday, February 1. Sophomore Allison Heathcock stole the show with her first career double-double to help the Bluejays move to 10-12 on the season and 6-7 in BIG EAST action. Seton Hall, meanwhile, fell to 15-7 overall and 9-4 in conference contests.

Trailing 7-5 in the opening moments (6:44), the Bluejays seized control with nine straight points. Four different Bluejays contributed as Kennedy Townsend and Neleigh Gessert got things rolling with driving layups, then Norah Gessert knocked down a trey and Ava closed the loop with another driving layup to make it 14-7 (3:31).  The Bluejays went on to hold a 21-15 edge heading to the second.

Creighton did not surrender the lead the rest of the way, but the battle raged on through. Seton Hall opened with a bucket to draw within four. The Bluejays responded swiftly and to the heart with back-to-back treys Townsend and Neleigh Gessert giving the Jays their first double-digit edge at 27-17 (8:39). The frame seesawed back and forth as the Pirates drew within three only to see Townsend and Gessert strike once more to make it 38-29 (3:37). The Bluejays went into the locker room with a 45-39 lead.

The third quarter saw the two teams parry back and forth throughout the third, sending the battle to the final stanza with Creighton holding a 60-55 advantage.

Creighton attacked first in the fourth with seven consecutive points to build a 67-55 lead with 5:36 remaining. Seton Hall head coach Tony Bozella used his second timeout of the frame, switching his defense to a stifling half court model. The move worked as Seton Hall closed within three at 67-64 with 1:25 on the clock. Freshman Kendal McGee ended the Pirates attempt at plunder with a pair of free throws and Zediker went 3-for-4 from the line in the final minute to seal the win.

Neleigh Gessert led Creighton with 16 points, while Townsend closed the game with 14. Heathcock delivered 11 points and 10 rebounds, while  McGee finished with 10 points.

Seton Hall got a game-high 20 points from Jordana Codio, while Savannah Catalon delivered 15 points and Shailyn Pinkney added 11.

Creighton returns to the court for back-to-back home games against Georgetown on Wednesday, Feburary 4 and Marquette on Sunday, February 8. The game against the Hoyas is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start.
