Omaha, Neb. -- A six-run seventh helped Creighton Baseball dispose of Villanova to collect its second consecutive BIG EAST sweep with a 12-3 win on Sunday, April 27. The victory pushed the Bluejays to 28-12 on the season and 9-3 in BIG EAST action, while Villanova fell to 20-20 overall and 4-8 in conference action.

Creighton broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third with back-to-back RBI triples from Teddy Deters and Nolan Sailors gave Creighton a 2-0 edge. The Bluejay lead grew to 5-0 with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth, courtesy of another RBI triple from Sailors and a throwing error by the Wildcats.

Villanova took advantage of three singles, two Creighton errors, a walk and a hit batter to push across three runs, but an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded kept Creighton in front.

The Creighton offense went right back to work with six runs on five hits in the seventh. With one down in the frame the Bluejays loaded the bases on singles from Sailors and Ben North, followed by a walk to Will MacLean. A wild pitch by Villanova sent home the Bluejays' first run, then Connor Capece laced a two-run double to left to put the Bluejays up 8-3. Tate Gillen drove a two-run single to right-center later in the frame and another run scoring wild pitch made it 11-3.

Creighton added a run in the eighth as Capece delivered once more, this time with an RBI single.

The starters were the pitchers of record as Bluejay Wilson Magers nabbed the win (4-2) Allowing three runs (two earned) in 6+ innings. Creighton reliever Ian Koosman slammed the door with three scoreless frames to earn his first save of the season. Wildcat starter Bobby Olson took the loss (1-4), giving up three runs on five hits in 3.2 innings.

Capece led the offense with three hits (3-for-5), three runs scored and three RBI, while Sailors went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.

The Bluejays are back in action on Tuesday, April 29 as Creighton hosts Omaha at 11:00 a.m. in the annual Cox Kids Day at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
