B7 Sub District: Northwest Boys End Season


(York, NE) - The Northwest boys basketball season would come to an end on Wednesday night falling to Hastings 63-42 at the B7 Sub District played at York High School. The Vikings would fall into a hole of 15-7 at the end of the first quarter. The hole would get deeper under the 6:26 mark of the 2nd quarter as the Vikings would trail 21-9. The Vikings would then outscore Hastings 11-3 in the rest of the period to only trail by four at the break, 24-20, but that would be as close as Northwest would get. 

In the third quarter, the Vikings would have only five points with seven turnovers in the quarter. Northwest would have 17 turnovers in the game. Hastings outscored Northwest in the 3rd 16-5 to lead 40-25. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers would score 23 points to Northwest's 17. The Vikings would get 12 points from senior Cam Jensen to lead the way for Northwest. The Tigers were paced by junior Parker Ablott with 20 points and senior Brayden Power had 22 points. Northwest ends their season with a record of 8-15. The Tigers are now 10-12 advancing to the B7 Sub District final on Thursday night taking on the York Dukes back at York High School with a tipoff at 6:00 pm. York was a 70-38 winner over the Lexington Minutemen in the first semi-final of the night. The winner of Thursday night's game will get the automatic birth into the district final round to be one win away from the state tournament.
