Aurora Splits Central Conference Tourney Games


The Aurora girls could never overcome a slow start in a 51-33 loss to Crete. The Huskies (7-7) trailed by 13 in the first half before cutting the deficit to 10 at the intermission. Aurora got to within five twice in the third quarter including 30-25 after three. But Crete (9-6) hit four 3-pointer in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter to break the game open. Denae Nachtigal scored 18 for Aurora. The Huskies face Northwest (7-7) in a consolation game on Saturday 5pm  in the Aurora HS Gym. 

The Aurora boys used strong starts to third and fourth quarter to pull away from Seward 54-36. The Huskies scored the first 14 of the fourth to put the game away. Booker Sheierman scored a season high 20. Tyson Dvorak contributed 11. Cannon Allen added 10. The Huskies (9-4), play Adams Central (12-3) in the Central Conference semifinals on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 7:45 at Northwest High School. Pregame begins at 7:30 on 97.3 the Wolf.
