Aurora Faces Crete for Central Conference Title


After both teams battled from nine-point second half deficits, the top two seeds square off for the Central Conference Boys' basketball titles Saturday. 

Aurora pulled away from Northwest 52-42. Crete broke a tie game in the final seconds for a 55-51 win over Adams Central.

The Aurora win wasn't secured until a 15-2 fourth quarter run. Northwest led most of the first three quarters. Booker Scheierman scored 16, Cannon Allen had 14. Parker Smith added 13. Aurora (15-2) hit 19-22 from the line to ice the win. Jaden Brandt put in a 11. Brandon Bykerk added 10 for the Vikings (12-5) .

Crete (13-3) broke a 51 all tie with a 35 footer from Carter Rezny. His subsequent technical foul shot after Adams Central (10-7) called a timeout it didn't have accounted for the final margin. 

The Huskies and Cardinals meet at Columbus Lakeview at 5pm. Coverage begins at 4:45 on 97.3 the Wolf.
