Aurora BB travels to Waverly
The Aurora basketball teams face tough challenges on the road at Waverly tonight.
The girls game features the 11-7 Huskies and the 9-8 Vikings. Aurora is coming off a win over Grand Island Central Catholic 57-24. Kaitlyn Staehr is averaging 10 a game to pace the Huskies. Waverly downed Bishop Neumann 56-48 on Thursday. Kenna Kottman, who's considering NAIA offers, is putting a nine a game for a balanced Waverly team. The Vikings have beaten the Huskies four straight times enroute to making the Class B State Tournament each of those years.
The Aurora boys (15-4) try to avoid a two game losing streak after falling at Pius X 61-56 on Tuesday. Waverly (3-14) dropped a 43-32 decision to Bishop Neumann on Tuesday. Ryan Staehr, Cannon Allen, and Jaxson Slagle are all averaging in double figures for the Huskies. Brady Shieffer, a Wayne State football recruit, is scoring 14 a game for the Vikings. Waverly has played a tough schedule in the Eastern Midlands Conference. Coach Kevin Asher is 2-2 against the Vikings.
