Aurora and O'Neill split in HS BB

The favorites won their contests as Aurora and O'Neill split a high school basketball double header on Saturday.

In the girl's game, O'Neill broke open a seven point game at the half in a 71-46 win over the Huskies. The Eagles hit their first six shots of the second half and were not seriously threatened after that. Grace Wieseler scored a season high nine in her first start for Aurora.

The Aurora Boys never trailed in a 76-47 victory. Ryan Staehr scored 14 of his 17 in the first half. Jaxson Slagle put in 16. Cannon Allen overcame an early injury to score 13. He received an inadvertent elbow to the head and missed most of the first quarter as they tried to contain the bleeding.

Aurora visits Kearney Catholic on Thursday. Coverage begins at 5:45 on 97.3 the Wolf.
