New Public Transit Service to Begin Monday in Hall County

Hall County Rural Transportation will launch rural public transit service, open to the general public, on Monday, August 12, 2024, in the rural areas of Hall County. Rural Hall County includes the areas outside the urbanized area boundary of Grand Island and Alda. The rural areas include Wood River, Cairo, Doniphan, Abbott, and the unincorporated areas of the county. Services will operate Monday through Friday.
• Trips can be booked by calling 308-385-5083 from 8:00am to 5:00pm.  They are taking bookings now with first trips starting Monday, August 12, 2024.
• The transit fares are $2.00 per one-way trip and can be paid by cash, check, or with credit card.
• Reservations must be made 24-hour in advance.
• All trips must begin or end within the designated rural area of Hall County, some exceptions may apply.
• The earliest pickup is 7:00am and the latest drop off is 530pm.
• The transit service is open to the general public and scheduled on a first come, first serve basis.
• All transit vehicles are wheelchair accessible for residents and visitors.

Hall County Rural Transportation is made possible thanks to the local funding from Hall County, Nebraska Department of Transportation, and the Federal Transit Administration. Hall County is pleased to partner with Brown Transit, the contractor providing transit service for the County, and a subsidiary of Holiday Express Busing Company. Brown Transit is based out of Grand Island and will provide the drivers, dispatch, and administrative services for the county.
