Anderson Signs With UNK Track & Field
(Grand Island, NE) - On Thursday, February 12th, Grand Island Central Catholic senior Julianna Anderson signed with UNK Track & Field to pole vault for the Lopers.
Julianna began pole vaulting in middle school. She was excited to use her gymnastics skills in a school sport. As an 8th grader, she qualified for the Middle School State Track meet. Julianna has been a 3 year letter winner in track. As a sophomore and junior, she qualified for the Central Nebraska Track
Invitational. During her junior year, she set a meet record at the Loup City Meet, vaulting 11'3 & the Milford Meet with a vault of 11'O. Julianna was the Centennial Conference runner-up both her sophomore and junior years. She was also the district champion as a sophomore and as a junior. Her district championship win as a junior put her 6th in GICC's all-time top performance history with a vault of 11'7. Julianna is a two-time state meet qualifier. She was the State Runner-up as a ,sophomore, and 5th place her junior year.
Julianna will continue her pole vaulting career at the University of Nebraska-Kearney as a track scholarship recipient, majoring in English with an emphasis on creative writing.
Along with track at GICC, she also participates in Big-Little Crusaders, Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Concert, Choir, Musical, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Swimming.
