2025 Northwest Volleyball Season Preview

(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest volleyball team is back to the grind in preparation for the 2025 season. Last year, the Vikings went 27-9, falling one match win short of making the state tournament. Northwest would fall to Bennington in the district final, 3-0. 

Key returners back for Coach Harders include Ava Janulewicz (SO), who led the team in kills last season with 369 and averaged 3.8 kills per set. Janulewicz also led the team with ace serves at 54. Tessa Scheer (SR) had 136 kills last year for the Vikings. Two-year starter at setter, Kenna Bowman, returns for her junior season. Bowman last year had 953 set assists along with 39 ace serves to go along with her 97% serving percentage. Northwest will also look to get key contributions from Nasya Anderson (JR), Chloe Thielen (JR), and Halle Rice (JR). 

The season kicks off Tuesday, September 2nd, hosting Kearney. Select matches throughout the season will air live on 103.1 FM & 2dayfm1031.com. The first match carried will be a road trip to North Platte on Thursday, September 11th.
